Beyond the Pews. Connecting the Divide Between the Church and Mental Health Community. Presented by Val Andrews

Mental illness is often times a misunderstood area within the church. Frequently, those who are suffering are told to “pray about it,” rather than to seek help from a psychiatrist or therapist. This can invalidate those struggling and distance them from reaching out. This presentation is designed to help attendees learn how to open up a dialogue to those within the church and to increase these arenas to become a safe place to talk about mental illness.
