The Importance of Instilling Hope and Motivation when Working with Clients Recovery, and the Challenges and Triumphs of Putting a Life Together.

One of the greatest challenges for therapists is to motivate their patients to make positive behavior changes.  Finding motivation to do the hard work in treatment can be difficult, especially after years of attempts at therapy without feeling success.    Sometimes, hope is lost and those wanting change resolve themselves to the idea that it can’t happen.  This workshop will discuss multiple ways in which clinicians can inspire hope and motivation in their clients that will help to improve compliance with the treatment process, which includes motivational interviewing.  Strategies to build motivation, reduce sabotage, and create healthier thinking patterns will be discussed, in addition to ways to improve long term success to build a healthier, happier, balanced lifestyle.
